Introduction

V I S I O N

We had our work cut out for us, but we have restored this building to its former Georgian and Victorian heritage, complete with museum quality period furnishings and art work. Since completion, you can now find lodgings extrordinaire with six master suites, fully licensed bar/parlour, a billiards room and a dining room.

Beneath the dozens of layers of flooring and wallpaper we have found the "INN" and have created an atmosphere of a home with fine furnishings and a relaxed setting.

As much of the original structure as possible has been preserved or sympathetically replaced. We were involved in a slow and careful demolition looking for any "ghost marks" and clues into what once was. There are eight original fireplaces (many were bricked in) which are now back in working order.

Most rooms include a wood burning fire place, as well as Georgian, Empire or Victorian period antiques. Each guest room's well appointed bath is complete with bath robes and antique style fixtures.

A fully restored 1880’s verandah and balconies welcome guests to the front of the building and  new ones have been added to the back overlooking the gardens and the courtyard.

The Bar/Parlour has a Victorian styled bar where an assortment of spirits, fine wines and local beer on tap can be found.

On the lower level, the Billiards Room is equipped with a beautiful nine foot pool table from the late 1800s, and  1939 Rockola Jukebox.  Atlantic Canada's finest wine cellar is adjacent to the Billiards Room.

The elegant Dining Room serves breakfast to guests and dinner to guests and the general public. The menu is small but the cuisine is of the highest quality and made with only the freshest ingredients. Full and continental breakfasts will be available featuring such specialties as Eggs Benedict with Ovenhead smoked salmon and homemade Hollandaise. Dinners include local lobster, salmon and fine Continental cuisine.

Our concierge service includes fax, email, regular mail and 24 hour laundry service.   Itinerary planning is available as well.

We open in the spring of 1999 and you’ll find us at 132 Water St. in St. Andrews. Come sit on the verandah, and enjoy a refreshment while taking in the view overlooking Passamaquoddy Bay and the historic St. Croix River. We will also offer unique accommodation packages including: whale watching, kayaking, golf, scuba diving or fly fishing for salmon on the famous Miramichi River. We can even organize special business retreats. So whether you crave an adventure filled vacation or one with your feet up and a book in your hand, it’ll be tough to beat your stay at the Windsor House in beautiful St. Andrews-by-the-Sea.
