Hello, I'm Diana Wallis and with my husband Sir Michael Wilmot, own The Beaufort. We pioneered the London Private House Hotel concept and are now in our eleventh year. We're both very actively involved in the Hotel, day to day.

We're located 100 yards from Harrods, and have only 28 bedrooms, so everyone gets the maximum of individual attention. The Beaufort is snuggled away in the tranquillity of Beaufort Gardens overlooking beautiful London plane trees, yet here we are in the middle of fashionable Knightsbridge. We have a closed front door, for privacy and security, only the guests have keys to the front door.

Let me show you round the Hotel...

p3c.jpg (7332 bytes) In the wonderfully comfortable sitting room is the bar, where all drinks, including a delicious brand of Champagne, are free 24 hours a day. It is here that we also serve our free cream teas every afternoon - with hot scones, Devon clotted cream and home-made strawberry jam.
The staff are truly outstanding and sensitive to your every need, whether it's car hire, theatre and restaurant recommendations and bookings, ideas on what to do and where to go, they are there to help. For your office needs, photocopying, faxing, secretarial or meeting rooms, they can satisfy your requirements.

Every comfort is catered for in the individual design of rooms. Large comfy beds (including some king-size), squashy chairs, beautiful English fabrics, subtle wallpapers and luxurious bathrooms. So many personal touches that make this Hotel a home. A decanter of brandy, delicious Swiss chocolates, stereo CD and cassette player, radio, TV, hairdryer, shoe cleaner, magazines and books, even a teddy bear for company. All rooms have direct-dial telephones with personal numbers, and furthermore, all rooms are air conditioned. The Beaufort is also home to a unique collection of original English floral water-colours, the world's largest. p7.jpg (5091 bytes)

junior_suite.jpg (13302 bytes) The Junior Suites are wonderful value for money. The price includes a complimentary limo to or from the airport (or a complimentary aromatherapy massage if you prefer), fax/answering machines in the rooms, mobile phone, modem and e-mail facilities.

In the morning, when you are well rested, your complimentary breakfast is brought to your room on a large tray with pots of steaming hot coffee or tea,
genuine freshly squeezed orange juice, warm rolls and crossants and home-made English preserves, served on Wedgwood china with solid silver cutlery.

One of the 'extras' in all bedrooms is my personal Restaurant Guide. This is a handwritten guide to some of my favourite restaurants both near the hotel and a taxi ride away. The guide is there as an introduction to some restaurants you might not have thought of - and in one or two cases, a warning about a few you might have thought about! It's a very simple guide (I should tell you that it has won an award which I'm very proud of!) - and is written in a friendly, non-pretentious way as an introduction to London eating. Sometimes you can arrive in a new city and the whole eating thing can
be rather overwhelming - this guide takes care of that feeling!

If you need to work all that off - every guest has free membership of a top London health club.

If you've stayed with us before you will recognise all I've said. If you're about to stay we all look
forward very much to meeting you and sharing with you truly one of the best hotels in the World.

About The Hotel

Quietly situated in a tree-lined square, only 100 yards from Harrods, we are perfectly placed for shopping, business and seeing London. The Beaufort was created by broadcaster Diana Wallis (Lady Wilmot) and her husband Sir Michael Wilmot who are both very involved with the hotel on a day to day basis. Diana Wallis:

"When The Beaufort was voted one of the Best Hotels in the World I felt we had received recognition not just for being a very beautiful, private hotel, but for the tremendous personal attention all our guests receive from the staff. My concept for The Beaufort was one where the guest is the most important person and must come first: they should feel at home, as relaxed and comfortable as possible; and so they do."

On arrival at The Beaufort you are greeted at the door, and without extensive formalities, are given your own front door key and shown to your room with an introduction to the hotel, or in the case of a return visit, welcomed home.

Inside, The Beaufort has all the calmness of an English country house, hardly surprising since Beaufort Gardens is the only cul-de-sac in Knightsbridge. Yet you are in the heart of London's most fashionable district.

The Beaufort with its 28 individual bedrooms in two Victorian houses is big enough to cater for the international traveller who wants the efficiency of business facilities, yet small enough to offer privacy and personal attention to all who visit and our many guests who return. Please use the links above to find out more about where The Beaufort is located, about the accommodation, and for a personal greeting from Diana Wallis.

Before you do, you might also like to know about some of the awards The Beaufort has won:

Zagat, America's most prestigious guide to Hotels and Restaurants Worldwide, has rated The
Beaufort London's top Hotel for Service and in the top five for Quality of Rooms and Value for Money.

Courvoisier's 'Book of the Best', the acclaimed international guide to the best things in the World, has awarded The Beaufort the supreme accolade in the category of World's 'Best of the Best' Hotels.

We also hold the Cesar Award as Best City Hotel in Britain from 'The Good Hotel Guide'.

The Gold Book has rated us one of the Great Hotel Suites of the World, while we are one of the 100 of the World's Best in Resorts and Great Hotels.

The Accommodation

The whole atmosphere of London's most successful privately owned hotel is relaxed. The minute you enter The Beaufort you immediately feel at home, comfy beds, squashy chairs, beautiful colours, subtle wallpapers, and luxurious bathrooms are the features of THE place to stay.

Those features are complimented by the world's largest collection of original English floral watercolours, over 400 of them on every wall of the hotel.

As well as being a home-from-home, The Beaufort can also be an office-from-home with every bedroom capable of meeting the needs of the busiest executive and our efficient staff able to arrange meeting rooms and secretarial services.

We have developed a new concept in
Junior Suites
specifically to meet the needs of the most sophisticated traveller and complimented them with a range of Single and Double Bedrooms of such a level of comfort and luxury you will want to come back again and again, as so many of our guests do.

The Bedrooms
